Consuming haraam

أسلام عليكم

I have been told by a friend that if one consumes something haraam, eg: alcohol, marijuana etc, Ibadah is not accepted for 40 days.

If one really needs الله in hard times, is remorseful and regretful about consuming haraam, and has asked الله for forgiveness, will Ibadah now be accepted?

Answer

Assalaamu alaykum

If one sincerely makes Taubah from consuming intoxicants, then the ill-effects of such intoxicants are also remove. Insha-Allah, one’s Duas will thereafter be accepted.
