Dropshipping

Dropshipping

Assalamu Alyikum,

I want to start a Dropshipping business (meaning that I take the photo and description of a product(s) from selling website like Amazon and then put it on my shop in facebook with higher price(so I don t phsically have it ) and when someone buys it I buy it for him from amazon and send it to him ) so I am like a brokerage but I don’t physically possess the item I am selling)
I searched and I knew that it is forbidden to sell somthing that you do not possess but you can be a brokerage for them so what I did is:
I asked the websites I am buying from if I can do that(dropshipping) with their products and one of them said they allow this and the other said we do not have policy against this( so I can do it)

My question is can I do dropshipping after I got the permission of the original seller (the websites I get the product from) to do so with their products ?

Answer

Assalaamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuh
From an Islamic perspective, Dropshipping is not permissible, even if one has the permission of one’s suppliers. One is selling something that is not in one’s possession, and advertising it as a sale (not brokerage, or an offer to source and supply).
And Allah Taäla knows best.
