Assalamalikum,
I moved from Pakistan to United States 3 years ago after getting married. I have 7 month old son from my husband. Before I got married I covered my head but not at every place. But now I want to cover it as it is mandatory in Islam. But my husband won’t let me to do. Whenever I ask he says no. He says why u marry me u should do with some religious person not me. If I convince him the argument turn out to be giving me divorce but not letting me to do. He is very firm in his opinion. Now what should I do? I do not want to break my family by taking divorce when I have a child but at other end I can’t disobey ALLAH SWT. What should I do? I am very upset with the fight that is going on inside me? My family support system is not good. After divorce I will have to face financial, economical and social challenges.
Please guide me

Respected Sister,

The actual  method to adopt is to ignore  the sinful demand of your husband and to obey Allah Ta’ala regardless of the divorce and its consequences.  A person of strong Imaan will adopt this route.

However, the Imaan of   most people is extremely defective. They  are unable to bear the difficulties which ensue  as consequences of  a resolute  stance of obedience to Allah Ta’ala.  If you  will be unable to bear the financial, social and other hardships which will ensue in the wake of divorce, then adopt Sabr. Engage in much Istighfaar and  make dua to Allah Ta’ala to guide your husband.

May Allah Ta’ala keep you with aafiyat.
