Six fasts of Shawwal

Slms. Pls tell me the significance of keeping the 6 shawwal fasts.

Assalaamu alaykum

Sayyidunā Abū Ayyūb al-Ansāri reports that Rasūlullāh said: "Whoever observes the fast of Ramadān and thereafter follows it up with six fasts in Sahawwāl, it would be as if he fasted throughout the year"

(Sahīh Muslim, hadīth:2750 )
