Transactions

السلام عليكم و رحمة الله و بركاتهُ.

Respected Mufti
I made a purchase of bottles at a muslim owned shop. The price was marked at R9. 95. I bought a quantity of 36 bottles. When I saw my cash sale slip I noticed that I had been charged R10. 00 per bottle. Is it permissable for the store to do this? Being muslim should this be brought to their notice if it not ? I am not crying for the few cents that I was overcharged but concerned at the principle of this transaction.

Answer

Assalaamu alaykum
It is not permissible for the shop owners to do this.
If you feel that they have the capacity of accepting advice and will appreciate you bringing this to their attention, then you may do so. Otherwise simply make Dua for their Hidayah.
